The recuperation yard is continuing to fill with new horses and ponies arriving all the time.

The lighting in the stables have now been completed and there is now a date pencilled in the diary for an Open Day in the spring.

Jo has a mixture of foals, ponies, polo ponies and thoroughbred racehorses all requiring different levels of treatment.

Jo has also taken in racehorses for owners who are looking for a break for their horses- either for medical reasons or financial reasons.

Jo's latest recruit, Casper an Apaloosa owned by Kim! Casper has a wonderful temperament and has already fitted in really well into his new environment.

December 2008

Just a brief update on some of the horses in Jo's care.

Bay Hawk, the racehorse that has been at Jo for some months under the care of top vet, Simon Knapp and of course, Jo is making great progress.

He is loved by everyone up at the yard as he is the kindest horse that has been extremely patient bearing in mind how much time he is spending in his box.

He is having his back looked at next week and Simon will be coming along to scan his front legs, so check the treatment on his tendons is continuing to improve.

Jo is very lucky to have Gerry Gracie as one of the yards advisors. Not only is Gerry an excellent horseman, he has been a jockey and a racehorse trainer and there is not much he doesn't know about horses, especially racehorses having worked with them for most of his life.

Gerry is also an equine back specialist and is always on hand to help with manipulation with horses that may need manipulation.

One horse that has been in Jo's care for a couple of months, an ex polo pony called Pinnochio, seemed to have numerous areas of acute pain, even when just standing. After two sessions with Gerry the pony is now standing pain free and is a much happier horse in so many ways. He even manages to greet you with his ears facing forward now.

Spot continues to make good progress much to the utter relief of Tracie. Tracie now rides Spot our regularly on the roads and although he is not completely out of the woods at the moment, he is now giving able to remind his owner what a joy he is now she is able to ride him again.

Sharon Colliver who helps Jo with schooling some of the horses putting Sydney (owned by Jo) through it's paces in the school.

If you have a horse that needs a rest, needs a period of recuperation, or even if during this current credit crunch and you have a racehorse in training that may need a holiday, please give Jo a ring.
